About Bellevue, WA

Bellevue is a rapidly growing city in King County, Washington, U.S., across Lake Washington from Seattle. Long known as a suburb or satellite city of Seattle, it is now categorized as an edge city or a boomburb. The city's rapid growth took off when access to Seattle became convenient with the openings of first the Lake Washington Floating Bridge (AKA I-90) and then the Evergreen Point Floating Bridge in 1963. In 2003 the Census Bureau estimated the city had a total population of 112,344, making it the fifth largest city in the state and the largest on the Eastside of King County. According to the Washington State Office of Financial Management's 2006 estimate, the city has a population of 117,000.

Downtown

Bellevue has been experiencing ongoing developments for quite a while now. Plans for new residential high-rises and commercial/retail buildings are proposed frequently and because of the city's growth goals, many have been accepted. Bellevue's current construction includes 1.8 million square feet of office space, 375,000 square feet of retail space, and 3,200 apartments or condos, according to city officials. Most of the projects are high-rises.

Why Bellevue?

Known as one of Washington's most high-tech and cosmopolitan cities, Bellevue attracts big-name corporations and retail from all over the nation, including Microsoft, which has offices here. It could be because Bellevue has quite a few innovative and influential corporations, most of them in high-tech fields and many of which are the premier companies of their field that Bellevue is one of Seattle's most affluent "suburbs", with the resident's median household income being in the $70,000-80,000 range. Corporations that call Bellevue home include Expedia.com and T-Mobile.

Residents settle here to enjoy the high quality living Bellevue has to offer, aside with one of the state's top school districts and a community college that is the largest community college in the state and the second largest institution of higher education.
