This quaint river-side towne is famous for its Historic Homes and Gardens. Snohomish architecture contains a delightful variety of styles.  As an example, Blackman House is a must see. A Dutch colonial style with Queen Anne Towers, it is located on the corner of Fourth Street and Avenue D. The Snohomish and Pilchuk Rivers border the town and provide a long list of recreational activities for the whole family. A natural choice for a scenic route through downtown is the Snohomish Riverfront Trial.

For those with more lofty ambitions or the need for adrenaline try out Airial Ballon Co’s Hot air balloon for stunning views of Snohomish River Valley and Harvey Airfield for Skydiving lessons, helicopter tours and even chartering your own plane.  

Snohomish Farmers Market is available on Thursday Evenings, 3pm until 7:30pm May 14th – Sep 24th. And offers wide varieties of cut flowers, fruit and farm fresh vegetables.

In Snohomish’s Ghost Sightings are common, especially at the Oxford Saloon. You may want to stop by to check out the picture album of ghosts… You may meet Joe, Madame Kathleen and Mr Peterson.

Snohomish is a strong cohesive community even though many residents commute to Everett, Seattle and Eastside. The town of Snohomish is very dear to my heart since one of my best friends lived and owned a business, Casa e Cucina Francesca in town. Local residents are very welcoming and friendly to visitors or to new home owners. If you know anyone who would like to make Snohomish their home, there is a wonderful Victorian is for sale located at 324 Avenue E, Snohomish, WA 98290.

Lake Forest Park is a very highly valued community for its quiet and rich lifestyle as well as it’s proximity to Seattle and being right on Lake Washington.  In fact the Lake Forest Park Civic Center has a boat launch and a private beach that residents use in the summer to enjoy the water and swim.  There are also a few wonderful shops and restaurants.  While not large, it is enough and with enough variety to keep residents pretty busy and amused without going far to find something valuable.  One of the most amusing I always feel is Two Trading Tigers, which is neverendingly different and fun, and the two owners, lovely ladies you would expect to find running an art gallery as easily as a consignment shop, are full of great insights into home decoration as well as fun to chat with!  It’s really more like a friend’s house in a way

where everyone is trading stuff that they are tired of but someone else will love.

As they are “consignees of fine goods” you never know what you’ll find but there is always something I NEED. I love their taste and it’s fun to bring things from home that don’t fit in anymore and move them on to a new and loving owner, and get some cash for doing so…which usually goes toward a purchase of something I feel I DO need.  There is art on the walls, sometimes that you can’t live without.  Their jewelry is always very tempting, they have wonderful Asian imports and household decor items, great antique and imported dishware, and of course special clothing.  When you find a great jacket still with the tag on you will feel like a Paris fleamarket mavin.  As we say in Seattle, “Enjoy, sisters!”

explain how the collective works.  Various ceramic artists both work and display their work here in the gallery, and it will be an adventure to see the different interpretations side by side.  Clay is such an “earthy” medium it evokes home and hearth (and heart!) so I always feel more centered when I have visited this little gallery and seen what’s current.

down to earth studio atmosphere Gallery and workspace.  The original members changed slightly, and the current group of potters includes Adrian Miller, Eva Funderburgh, Jamie Kirkpatrick, John Ellefson, Karla Lieberman, Meg Wolff, and Randy Sill.  Each with their own themes and body of work, the artists form a collective that is strong and vibrant, and very much an atmosphere of “work in progress.”
