<p>Maplewood Heights is a neighborhood in northeast Renton with good schools, attractive amenities, and a good location.  The neighborhood is centered on Maplewood Park and the Maplewood Heights Elementary, which was recently named a &#8220;School of Distinction&#8221;.  The Renton School District generally has seen improvement in test scores in 2011.</p>
<p>Recreational opportunities abound nearby with the Cedar River bike trail, the Renton Community Center with its gym and outdoor water park, the Eastside&#8217;s only ice skating rink, and the public swimming pool open year round at Hazen High School.</p>
<p>The neighborhood has a choice of two routes for a commute to downtown Seattle (405/I-90 or 900/I-5), which makes it possible to avoid the worst traffic.  The community is service by King County Metro bus line 111.</p>

<p>The <a href="http://rentonwa.gov/living/default.aspx?id=190">Henry Moses Aquatic Center</a> in Renton is our favorite waterpark in the Seattle area.  (Well, in fact, there are few to choose from.  Seattle is underendowed with waterparks.  Our next favorite is the <a href="http://www.ghymca.net">YMCA in Hoquiam</a>.)  The park&#8217;s play features includes two big waterslides, a lazy river, a wave pool, kid&#8217;s spray area, and an Olympic size swimming pool.  Rounding out the facility are the locker rooms, picnic tables, concession stand, and lots and lots of beach lounger chairs for parents.</p>
<p>The park is quite small, so they control the number of participants during two 3 1/2 hour sessions per day.  Being outdoors in Greater Seattle, the park is open a limited portion of the year.  This year from June 18 just after schools are out to Labor Day weekend.  The park is owned and operated by the City of Renton, so the <a href="http://rentonwa.gov/living/default.aspx?id=494">rates</a> are quite reasonable.</p>

<p>Even though admissions are controlled, the park is much more fun in a light crowd.  Here are my favorite strategies for avoiding the peak crowds:</p>
<ol>
<li>Take a day off of work and go to the first session at noon on a week day.</li>
<li>Deliberately target a day of bad weather.  The water is quite warm and comfortable under a rain shower.  The risk, however, is that the park will not open unless at least 25 people are in line waiting for admission.  So don&#8217;t show up early on this kind of day.  Arrive just before the opening.</li>
<li>#1 and 2 together: take a day off work in bad weather.  Who else would be crazy enough to do that?</li>

		</p><p>Manufactured homes in 55+ mobile home parks are an attractive and affordable senior housing solution.  Parks offer a variety of community amenities, such as a club house for community events, swimming pools, sauna and hot tubs, exercise rooms, meeting or club rooms, RV parking, and on site storage.  Communities are typically gated and secured.  The parks screen your neighbors with a background and credit check &#8211; that doesn&#8217;t happen in your usual neighborhood.</p>
<p>There are dozens of parks to choose from in South King county.  Lot rents vary from $450 to $800 per month, depending on the amenities provided and proximity to the Seattle/Eastside core, where relatives may live.  An attractive, remodeled mobile home can be purchase for $35,000 to $55,000.  If you compare the financing of this amount plus the lot rent, it compares favorably to renting a two bedroom apartment.  A mobile home gives you more privacy and space than an apartment.  You also own an asset: the mobile home could be moved (costs approximately $7,000), plopped on land you own, and rented out for 85% of what a site built home would bring.</p>

Well here is information which was requested about King  County. Northwest Multiple Listing Service (MLS) reported as following statistics for Dec 2009. Jan 2010 stats will be published in the coming weeks. We still got 21 months of inventory in King County while Snohomish County got 19 months of inventory of homes for sale.</p>

<p>As seen above chart, Residential active listings units dropped 20.55% from 8707 units in 2008 to 6918 units in December 2009 while Pending Residential units increased 55.10%, as Dec 09 pending listings were 1413 units compare to 911 units in December 2008.  There is a huge increase in sold units at 57.37%, 1462 units closed in 2009 vs 929 units in 2008.  Snohomish County Sold Residential unit increase is at 89.02% when compared to 2008.</p>

<p>As seen above chart, Median Price declined all across for Active, Pending and Sold Listings.  For December 09 sold median price was $380,000, dropped 6% compare to Dec 2008 while year to date Median price dropped further to 11.62%.</p>

<p>At least thirty feet of select produce, baked from scratch fresh breads, pizza and muffins, and soups like mom used to make.  This is a great alternative to the pricey and unhealthy heavy and greasy foods so popular with buffet style restaurants.  On a recent visit, the  delicatable menu items included a savory chicken tortilla soup,  fresh baked garlic herb focaccia bread, wheat crusted vegetable pizza, brocolli slaw and my favorite peeled green soybeans. </p>
<p>Just south of the W<img class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1189" src="http://www.seattlepowersearch.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/sdc10640-150x150.jpg" alt="sdc10640" width="150" height="150" />estfield Southcenter Mall (formerly Southcenter Mall)  next to Target, this is i<img class="alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-1188" src="http://www.seattlepowersearch.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/sdc10641-150x150.jpg" alt="sdc10641" width="150" height="150" />n the shadow of a shopper&#8217;s paradise with several strip malls surrounding the major department stores.  Perfect excuse to stop, shop and grab a healthy bite next time you have to go to the airport to pick up or drop off friends or family.  You&#8217;ll feel better for it, and so will your friends, family and your pocketbook.</p>
