Seattle, WA

When people say that you can't tell whether Bellevue is a city with lots of parks or a city in a park, the Wilburton and Kelsey Creek neighborhoods are what they have in mind.  Two fantastic, unique parks are found in this area:

  • Kelsey Creek Park and Farm - Besides picnic areas and a playground as you see in most parks, here's you'll find two large barns, pastures, and farm animals.  The park hold frequent community and school events to bring the city dwellers in to encounter the animals.
  • Bellevue Botanical Garden - This is vying for top spot among all gardens in Washington State.  The garden is maintained by an army of volunteers and is constantly expanding.  In fact, I just read about a new forest ravine suspension bridge that I'll have to go take a look at.  At Christmastime the park features the best holiday light display in the Seattle area.

In fact, there's a larger Wilburton Park around the botanical garden that adds a playground, sports fields, and forest.
